The Treasured Memories
On the booking form for the reunion, people were asked for their strongest memory, especially now that all of the old buildings have been demolished. These are what people said, in random order.

Have more memories of the old tech college where we first started and the walk between there and the new school whilst it was being built.

Apart from the memory of the buildings- the friends, the fun and the legacy of fine teaching that is still with me 40 years later.

On the last day of term in 1960 bras and other items of underwear were flying from the flag pole for all to see. I think the boys responsible were duly expelled. Now, as captains of industry, they obviously suffered from this experience!!

Trying to use the teachers elevator without being caught , and exploring along the many service tunnels under the school

I miss seeing the 2 chimneys when I am having my breakfast

Harry Hartwell vanishing gracefully from view, through the interconnecting door as he lent on it (previously knocked of its hinges after some horseplay in the form room)

Trying to throw a ball onto the roof of the tower block from the playground.

My strongest memory was the thrill of leaving followed by being slapped around the face by Gunner for pushing in through a door with another pupil, plus, having skived off exams in the 3rd year found out that I had returned too early! I would say that most of my memories are unpleasant ones. I find it difficult to understand even now how anybody enjoyed it.

I still use the bookcase that I made in the Woodwork room. It is next to my chair in our lounge, and stores my video's!

Enjoyable time, eclectic mix of subjects has stood me in good stead...lots of good memories.

Lasting friendship, appreciation (finally, as an adult) of what a decent education we all had.

The squeak of rubber soles on the gym floor and the damp sweaty smell of the changing rooms, cream buns and doughnuts from the tuck shop and Harry Hartwell.

And, of course, the friendship.

Buzzer standing at the main entrance every day we went into the place!

Very many! The Frank Wright silence-inducing emotionless expression (on stage) sticks in my mind.

Throwing super-balls over the tower block. I managed to catch one once. I have never experienced pain like it since.

The view from the tower it seemed very high up and I spent a lot of time staring out of the window!

Being let off by Tiger Timms because I had owned up to doing something I did that I shouldn't have done. Tiger was just a pussy cat really.

The girls' green gym knickers, or perhaps me trying to mix "science" subjects with "arts" and having to catch up with notes when timetables clashed!!!

I remember having to constantly rushing up & down the tower for lessons, and mainly trying to get to the floor Mr Hill was on just as he left his classroom - good coincidence !!!!!
