Letter from David Baker

Dear Ian,
Thank you for your letter - I think it very kind of you to write and particularly to include the kind things you did.
It was not out of duty that I came. I've looked forward to the Reunion and savour memories of it now it's over. I am very impressed with how people were and I daresay that the School helped but I can think of adult gatherings I am involved with where people do not converse properly but are so loud and bursting to tell things that they seem unprepared to listen. In all the conversations I had on Saturday people seemed genuinely interested in one another and conversations were genuinely sharing. I didn't analyse it at the time but looking back I recognise that this is true. All of us are different and it was as though everybody there rejoiced in that. In a world where folk fight about their differences it was so refreshing to see such mutual regard and respect and it made the day for me. I greatly enjoyed every minute of the session and if you want to quote me on the website please do.
I relish the idea of coming again next year and had written it in my 07 diary before leaving on Saturday but thank you for the reminder. Although potentially an ex-member of staff at a Reunion for ex-pupils could have been a bit inhibiting for pupils if not for staff it was all so easy and natural. I greatly appreciated being part of it all so thank you for organising it and inviting me.
