The Form Tutor at Trinity
We believe that caring
for each pupil is of great importance and the pastoral care
arrangements at Trinity provide a high level of support.
Pupils are allocated to form groups in the care of Form
Tutors who will, as far as possible, stay with the pupils
throughout their time at school. In addition, Key Stage Co-ordinators
have special responsibility for the progress and welfare of
the pupils at each Key Stage.
The purpose and strengths of this system are:
- to provide
continuity and a familiar and caring member of staff for
each pupil
- to provide
regular contact between tutors and pupils through
morning and afternoon registration and tutorial lessons,
giving pupils support and allowing problems to be
recognised quickly and dealt with effectively
- to check daily
that standards of dress, punctuality, attendance and
behaviour are being maintained
- to provide a
regular point of contact for parents over any issue that
concerns them and to provide a helpful and friendly
source of information and advice
- to provide a
programme that encourages social and moral development
and provides opportunities for collective worship
In addition,
considerable emphasis is placed on tutoring and advice
throughout the school with a view to directing pupils'
attention to careers or continuing with their education.
This emphasis on care at Trinity provides an ordered,
friendly and cheerful atmosphere which promotes good
learning and personal development.
Homework
We see homework as very important for all pupils to help
them build on and consolidate what they have learned at
school. In addition to extending the time spent studying
each subject, pupils need to learn to work independently.
Homework provides an opportunity for pupils to develop a
range of study skills, including information gathering and
analysis, which will allow them to gain confidence in their
own abilities.
A balanced timetable
spreads work out over the week, and pupils record their
tasks in Personal Record Books. We ask
parents to support us and their children by checking that
work is being set regularly and being done thoroughly.
